A Vermont man accused of beating a toddler to death is expected to be arraigned Monday.

Vermont State Police say Dennis Duby, 31, of Poultney, is facing a second-degree murder charge in the death of his stepdaughter Dezirae Sheldon, who was just 2-years old.

An autopsy report said Dezirae died from blunt force trauma to the head and the manner of death was ruled a homicide, police said.

Dezirae died on Friday, just two days after she was taken to the ER at Rutland Regional Medical Center, with severe head injuries. Police say she died at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire.

Duby will be arraigned in Vermont Superior Court in Rutland Monday afternoon.
