The Department of Defense says this year it shipped out about 52,000 pounds of turkey to bases around the world. It can take up to three months for the supplies to arrive at some remote locations.
The Defense Logistics Agency says along with the turkey, it shipped out over 25,000 pounds of beef, 17,000 pounds of ham, 700 gallons of eggnog and over 3,000 pounds of marshmallows.
