ELIZABETHTOWN, Ny.- After nearly two years of negotiations Essex County, New York finally closed on the sale of its Horace Nye Nursing Home.

Dan Palmer, Essex County Manager, says the nursing home was losing money almost two million dollars a year.

So in July of 2012, the county put Horace Nye up for bid. Centers for Specialty Care of the Bronx purchased the facility for $4.06 million dollars. But the sale was never finalized because of legal negotiations between the company and the county.

Now two years later, the sale will be finalized as of midnight Wednesday night.

People who work for the nursing home will be fine and patient care will not change.

Palmer says the county will net about $2.6 million dollars from the sale; that money will end up in the general fund.
