UPDATE: Driver arrested after running red light

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. - South Burlington police say a woman has been arrested, after she nearly hit two people crossing the street when she ran a red light.

Stormy Wilson, 24, of Essex Junction, is facing multiple charges, including three counts of aggravated assault, one count of gross negligent operation, and one count of attempting to elude police.

Authorities say an officer tried to stop Wilson around 10:30 a.m. Friday, for displayed registration plates not assigned.  Police say the officer had to turn around, and Wilson sped off.

A police investigation found Wilson was heading east on Aspen Drive, and didn't stop at a red light at the intersection with Dorset Street.  Officers talked to several witnesses, who provided statements.

Officials say Wilson hit a pickup truck heading north on Dorset St.  This caused the truck to spin, coming to rest on the lawn of 368 Dorset St., according to police, Wilson's car rolled over onto its roof.  Two people crossing the street had to run out of the way to avoid getting hit.

Wilson is due to be in court on Monday.  She was held at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility on $1,500 bail.
