Broadband Expansion has Bi-partisan Support

Washington, D.C. - Some lawmakers in the Nations Capitol are shining a light on broadband needs in rural areas, which is a major concern for many rural communities our region.

As part of his infrastructure budget, President Trump pledged to include funding to enhance broadband access in rural communities. Lawmakers on Capitol Hill are also calling on federal agencies to help reduce cost.

The chairman of the F.C.C. says the agency's solution includes changing the rules to make it easier for companies to build in poor, less populated areas.
 
 
The challenge however, is developing digital infrastructure is expensive and it's harder to provide low costs in small towns compared to big cities like Washington D.C.
