Castleton Farmer Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Murder

Castlelton, Vt. - A Castleton farmer is headed to prison for killing his daughter's boyfriend.

According to the Rutland Herald, 62-year-old Stephen Pelletier was sentenced Tuesday to ten years for the second degree murder death of 25-year-old Michael Wisell in 2014.

Court documents say Pelletier then disposed of Wisell's body in a manure pit.

During the sentencing hearing, the defense described Wisell as an abusive and violent man who introduced his girlfriend to heroin and repeatedly threatened to kill her and her family.

The prosecution argued Pelletier never reached out to police before shooting Wisell.
