Church Street Celebrates Alternative Fuel Vehicles

Burlington, Vermont - Church Street in Burlington was lined with alternative fuel vehicles Thursday.

The vehicles ranged from all-electric sedans to biodiesel-powered trucks.

Several Vermont organizations attended including Ben and Jerry's, Cabot Creamery and the Burlington Police Department.

Vermont Clean Cities Coalition hosts the event in hopes of educating the public about cleaner energy.
"Alot of people don't know what opportunities there are for alternative fuels out there,  I think we have heard a lot about electric vehicles and we are seeing more and more growth of electric cars and plug in electric cars which is really exciting but when you talk about heavy duty and  medium vehicles people think that diesel is the only option." Said Abby Bleything, of Vermont Clean Cities Coalition.

Burlington's event is just one of the more than 100 nationwide.
