Clinton County Sheriff Reacts to Former Correctional Employee Arrest

Plattsburgh, NY - New information on the former correctional facility employee facing charges following a multi-agency investigation. Officials said it sounds like a story they've heard before.

38-year-old Denise Prell is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with an inmate. Prell has been charged with promoting prison contraband, sexual abuse and 23 counts of official misconduct.

Local 22 & Local 44 caught up with Clinton County Sheriff David Favro who said this story sounds like one he's heard before.

"It's unimaginable how any individual civilian or sworn personnel could engage in any type of relationship with any relationship with an inmate given what we just went through here shortly two years ago," Favro said.

Sheriff Favro is referring to Joyce Mitchell who was a tailor shop supervisor at the same prison in Dannemora. Mitchell was convicted of helping Richard Matt and David Sweat break out in June 2015.

Favro said the prison break is still fresh in people's minds because of the Ben Stiller production in the works.
