The U.S. Coast Guard in Burlington is no longer searching for a boat in distress Friday night near Valcour Island.

Lt. Cody Jannsen told Local 22 / Local 44 all marine units were deployed Friday around 10:30 p.m. to search for a boat that lost contact.  The vessel had 5 people on board.

The search continued Saturday morning by air.

Lt. Jannsen says "it's safe to assume the boat made it safely back to shore" because there was no boat, people or debris seen in the water.

Lt. Jannsen says at this time, the boat has not been found.

Their search efforts concluded Saturday morning.
