Coroner: Body Recovered from Ausable River, Autopsy Scheduled for Wednesday

Wilmington, Ny. - The Essex County Coroner confirms the body of a 31-year-old man was recovered from the Ausable River Tuesday afternoon.

Matthew Miller was from Ithaca, New York.

The coroner, Frank Whitelaw, says Miller was swimming with a group of people yesterday when he went under.

Water volume from rainfall the past several days made for a dangerous recovery. Whitelaw thanked the responders who worked in difficult conditions.

Whitelaw says Miller died in the same area of the river where two Plattsburgh teens drowned in 2014.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
