Fairfield, Vt. - Vermont State Police say a Fairfield man was arrested Monday for two counts of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child.
Authorities say the Northwest Unit for Special Investigations was notified on Sept. 27, about a matter involving Shane Edgerly, 41.
A joint investigation by VSP and NUSI found Edgerly committed the offense in Fairfield. Police say statements and interviews were collected, along with additional evidence relating to the incident.
Officials say on Monday, Edgerly, who has been convicted of numerous sex offenses, was arrested at the St. Albans Barracks. Edgerly invoked his right to wait 24 hours before entering a plea, and is being held at Northwest State Correctional Facility for lack of $50,000 bail until his hearing on Tuesday.
