Fentanyl Fight Gets Aggressive in New York

Albany, NY - Aggressive new actions are being taken in New York to crack down on drug dealers, especially drugs that involve fentanyl.   
Governor Andrew Cuomo is pushing for legislation to add eleven fentanyl compounds to the state controlled substances schedule.

The bill also gives police more power to go after dealers.  

Overdose deaths from opioids went up nearly 35 percent between 2015 and 2016.
Fentanyl-related deaths increased at a much higher rate at nearly 160 percent statewide.
