Essex, Vt. - Essex police say a fire led to officers finding more than 40 marijuana plants in a building on Jericho Road.

Stacy Sartelle, 48, was cited for growing the plants, according to police.

Officers alongside Essex Town and Essex Junction Fire units responded to a fire just before 8 p.m. Thursday, according to a release from police.

Officials say firefighters told police they found dozens of plants while putting out the fire.

Further investigation by police found more than 40 plants were being grown inside the home. Police seized all plants, according to a release from police.

The fire was contained to the garage, the cause is unknown, but authorities say it is not considered suspicious.  No one was hurt in the fire.
