New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the first woman as New York State Police's second in command.
According to the governor's office, Patricia Groeber has been appointed First Deputy Superintendent of the New York State Police, which places her second in command of the 4,800 member Division.
"First Deputy Superintendent Groeber is a proven leader in the finest traditions of the New York State Police," said Governor Cuomo. "I know she moves into her new position with the experience and dedication that's necessary to serve all New Yorkers. I congratulate Patricia Groeber on her appointment to this incredibly important post."
First Deputy Superintendent Groeber will oversee the daily operations of all aspects of the Division, including Field Command, Administration, Employee Relations, and Internal Affairs.
Groeber first joined New York State Police in 1986.
