Founder of Vermont's Liberty Union Party Passes Away

A Vermont politician who Governor Scott says he greatly admires passed away yesterday.
 
Family members tell Local 22 Peter Diamondstone died at home surrounded by loved ones.

He was 82 years old.

His daughter says Diamondstone had several health problems and was recently released from the hospital.
   
Diamondstone was one of the founding members of Vermont's first alternative party -  the Liberty Union Party which formed in the 1970's.
    
A statement from his daughter says some of Diamondstone's last words were, as he thought about his own life and the world at large were, "maybe we can all be a little nicer to each other."
   
There will be a celebration of Diamondstone's life on Saturday.
