Johnson, Vt. - Johnson Firefighters swapped their helmets for chef hats at the Lamoille County Field Days.
Every year since 2005 local firefighters open the "Firehouse Grill" and sells concessions at the fair. The Firehouse Grill is exclusive to the Field Days– which means it's only open three days a year.
Playing with a different kind of fire is a great for bonding the department, but firefighter Dave Goddette said it also helps bridge the gap between the community.
"It's fun to be out in this capacity when we're not actually having to fight a fire or on a scene," Goddette said.
Somewhere we can actually just talk to people and have a great time at the fair."
A percentage of proceeds from the Firehouse Grill benefit the Johnson Fire Department to fund training and equipment.
