Hartford Police Officers Injured During Traffic Stop

Hartford, Vt. - According to a media release, two Hartford Police officers were treated and released from the hospital after a violent traffic stop.

Police say Mason Thompson, 19 of Woodstock was stopped for speeding Thursday night on Route 4.

Police say Marijuana and LSD were found during a search of Thompson’s car. Authorities say after a sobriety test Thompson became violent when being placed in handcuffs.

A media release says Officer Clifford’s head hit the pavement and went unconscious.

A back up Officer Peyton was also injured.

Police say Thompson is being charged with drug possession, driving under the influence, resisting arrest, simple and aggravated assault. He was held at Southern State Correctional Facility.
