Burlington, Vt - AmeriCorps has been around for nearly three decade but Vermont is taking the program to another level.
The Environmental and Career Opportunities AmeriCorps program (also referred to as Eco-AmeriCorps) is a program similar to AmeriCorps except it's bringing volunteers to environmental causes.
Madeline Cotter is in her second year with the program. She is currently with the Intervale program in Burlington.
Cotter is one of 24 members of the Eco-AmeriCorps team that will complete there year of service in August.
Of those 24 graduates 7 have already secured jobs in the state of Vermont.
Program Coordinator Ruben Allen says that the goal of the program is to provide training and experiences
"For them to get the kind of experiences and training that the need in order to get a green job upon completing the program."
