SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. - Vermont's biggest dog friendly event had a lot of wagging tails Sunday morning.
The Humane Society of Chittenden County hosted its annual Walk for the Animals and 5K Doggie Fun Run. Organizers say over 400 people registered, and that's not including the dogs.
The walk has been taking place for 23 years.
Kylie deGroot, Director of Development and Communications, says HSCC changes it up for the four legged walkers and runners every year.
"So this year, we've changed the location to beautiful South Burlington. We've added in a corporate challenge so businesses can submit teams from their employees and they can all run or walk together or fundraise together. And each year it sort of builds in a new fun aspect," said deGroot.
Local 22 & Local 44 are proud sponsors of the event.
Organizers say the $86,000 fundraising goal was surpassed before the walk began Sunday morning.
Money supports the animals at the Humane Society of Chittenden County.
