Icy Road Conditions in Vermont Halt Travel on I-89, I-91

MONTPELIER, Vt. - CURRENT ROADS STATUS 2 P.M. TUESDAY -

  • Traffic is moving on Interstate 89 between exits 7 and 8, and the exit 8 off-ramp has been reopened.  There is a significant back-up of traffic which will take time to clear.

  • Traffic is moving in the route 2 area through Marshfield.
     
  • The northbound lane of Interstate 91 in the Sheffield Heights area is moving.
     
  • Route 4 in Bridgewater closed due to crash.

Vermont State Police says traffic is at a standstill on Interstate 89 northbound & southbound near exit 8 in Montpelier due to icy road conditions.

Troopers are responding to multiple reports of crashes and slide-offs in central and eastern Vermont.

State Police says traffic is also at a standstill on Interstate 91 in the Sheffield Heights area, both north and southbound lanes.

“Motorists have found themselves stranded awaiting road treatment before being able to proceed with their trip,” a press release stated. “The public is encouraged to remain at their home or business and avoid travel unless an emergency arises.”
