Make-A-Wish Gets Granted With a Wand From the Wizarding World

14 year-old Delaney will go to Harry Potter World in London this fall

CAMBRIDGE, Vt. - A 14 year-old Fletcher girl was surprised with a magical gift on Sunday.

Delaney Sweet-Werneke is a huge Harry Potter fan, and thanks to Make-A-Wish Vermont, she and her family will go Harry Potter World in London.

Sunday, she had a Harry Potter themed party to reveal her surprise, where family and friends were waiting.

Delaney was diagnosed with malignant bone tumors last May. She underwent nine months of chemotherapy and also underwent a major operation.

Now, her parents are happy to report Delaney has been in good health for several months.

"One of her goals was to go with only one or less crutches, and we went to Boston to her surgeon, and her surgeon took away one of her crutches over the last week. She's enjoying being a normal 14 year-old and really looking forward to this," said her mother, Karrie Sweet Werneke.

Make-A-Wish Vermont grants wishes to kids with life threatening conditions and has granted over 775 wishes since 1989.
