Man Accused of Drugged Driving With Two Kids in Car

ESSEX, Vt. - A Barre man is facing multiple charges after police say he was driving while drugged with two small kids in the backseat.

24-year-old Christopher Adam is being charged with Driving Under the Influence of Drugs, two counts of Child Cruelty, and Negligent Operation.

Vermont State Police said they responded to a report Saturday of a vehicle that had gone off the Interstate in Bolton.

Police say the vehicle hit a guardrail before continuing off Exit 11. Officers say they found the vehicle on Route 117 in Essex where they took Adam into custody.

The children in the vehicle were not hurt and were released to a family member. Adam was cited to appear in Chittenden County Court on September 12.
