A Vermont man pleaded not guilty to child pornography charges on Friday.

Bobby Bushey, of Berkshire, Vt., is accused of obtaining and distributing child pornography over the internet using peer-to-peer file sharing programs.

Bushey is charged with five felony counts of promoting a recording of sexual conduct by a child and one felony count of possession of child pornography. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 55 years.

Bail was set at 5,000 cash and conditions of release were imposed, limiting his access to children and the internet.

The charges stem from an investigation by the Vermont Attorney General's Office, Vermont's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Vermont State Police, Burlington Police Department, South Burlington Police Department, and Homeland Security Investigations.
