Campton, NH - New Hampshire State Police say they were called to Livermore Falls on the Pemigewassett River in Campton around 4 p.m. Monday for a report of a person who jumped off a cliff and didn't come out of the water.
New Hampshire Fish and Game Dive Team recovered a 24-year-old man two hours later near where he entered the water, according to a release from police, he was pronounced dead.
Officials say Good Samaritans tried to find the man, but were unsuccessful.
Authorities say water conditions were relatively calm, with a slight current. The New Hampshire State Police-Marine Patrol, New Hampshire Fish and Game, and the Campton Police Department are investigating.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday. The man's name is not being released, pending notification of family.
