COLCHESTER, Vt. - Kelsey Golonka, crowned Miss Vermont Teen USA of 2017, recently returned from the Miss Teen USA competition in Phoenix, Arizona. She stopped by Local 44 Morning Brew to talk about what it was like to place in the top 15.
“It was so amazing to meet 15 amazing woman across the county, and get to become such great friends with all of them,” Golonka said.
With an interest in nursing, Golonka said one of the things she working to change during her time in the spotlight, is the number of concussions in school sports. She is working with Vermont Gov. Phil Scott to create legislation protecting all girls in field hockey and lacrosse.
Golonka will be a freshman at University of North Carolina in Wilmington this fall. She plans to study nursing and is extremely excited about the opportunity.
