More New York Air National Guard Personnel Deployed to Texas

Albany, NY - More members of the New York Air National Guard are being deployed to Texas, in response to flooding from Tropical Storm Harvey.

According to the Governor Andrew Cuomo's office, fifteen personnel from the 106th Rescue Wing left the Gabraski Air National Guard Base Tuesday morning and are expected to arrive at Fort Hood later in the day.

Another officer will leave Wednesday to help evacuate and transport patients to area hospitals.

In addition to personnel, a HC-130 search and rescue aircraft has also been sent down south.

Governor Cuomo already deployed three helicopters, several rescue boats, an aircraft and more than 100 airmen to Texas and Louisiana over the weekend.

Cuomo's office says those rescue teams were responsible for assisting more than 250 people in the Houston and Katy, Texas areas on Monday.
