WASHINGTON - More progress in Washington Wednesday as the U.S. House passed the farm bill. The vote was 255 to 161.

Compromises in the bill will help Vermont agriculture. Fruit and vegetable farmers will be able to purchase disaster insurance. The maple industry will get help to install efficiency improvements for the sugaring process.

The U.S. Senate is expected to begin debate on the bill by early next week.
