A new Discover student loans survey found fewer parents are willing to help their children pay for college.

Last year, 81 percent  of parents said they'd help. Now, that number is down to 77 percent.

The survey included 1,000 adults.

Most who say they want to help their kids but can't because of their own finances. Another group, 15 percent, believe college students should pay for every dime of tuition.

The survey also says some parents limit their contribution based on their child's major. Still, most parents want to help.
