Automaker GM has issued another recall, this time for more than 50,000 SUVs because of possible false readings on fuel gauges.

GM says a software problem could lead to a faulty reading on both ends of the range by as much as a quarter of a tank.

This inaccuracy could cause drivers to run out of fuel without any warning, putting the vehicle at risk of stalling and increasing the chance of a crash.

This recall involves 2014 models of the Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia.

The auto company says dealers will reprogram the software for free starting immediately.
