INTERACTIVE: How Americans Feel About Living In Their State

A Gallup poll found how Americans feel about living in their state.

Gallup says their poll found that residents of Western and Midwestern states were generally more positive about living in their state. With the exception Vermont and New Hampshire, all of the top 10 states are west of the Mississippi River.

Click on a state on the map to see how it ranked overall and how many people view their state as the best place to live vs. the worst place to live. States highlighted in light blue ranked higher than those highlighted in darker blue.
