Joan Rivers Dies at NYC Hospital

NEW YORK -  A trailblazer for women in comedy has died. Joan Rivers, the first female to host a late night talk show, opened doors across the entertainment industry.

Her daughter, Mellisa Rivers released a statement announcing that her mother died peacefully Thursday afternoon in New York.

Rivers had been hospitalized since last week after she went into cardiac arrest during a routing procedure at a Manhattan doctor's office.

The comedian was 81.
