The National Association of Theatre Owners released a set of voluntary in-theater guidelines Monday. The new guidelines call for maximum trailer length of 2 minutes, airing of trailers 150 days prior to release date, and 120 days prior for other in-theater marketing materials.
Two exemptions per distributor per year would be allowed.
The guidelines will go into effect for any film released domestically on or after October 1, 2014.
