BOSTON - New security measures will be in place for this year's Boston Marathon.

Law enforcement officials have been meeting to discuss security plans after last year's double bombing near the finish line.

The attack killed three people and injured more than 260.

This year, 3,500 police officers will line the route and spectators are being asked to carry their belongings in clear, plastic bags.

"We are confident that the overall experience of runners and spectators will not be impacted and that all will enjoy a fun, festive, family-oriented day,"  Kurt Schwartz, Director of Mass. Emergency Management Agency, said.

The race is scheduled to take place on April 21st.
