Right now the Otter Creek in Rutland is forecast to be near flood stage on Sunday into early Monday, with the Walloomsac in Bennington and Mettawee in Granville, NY getting into minor flood stage.
Other small rivers, streams, and creeks will also approach flood stage.
In addition, this is the time of year for ice jams- those are the huge chucks of river ice that come loose during heavy rain or warmups and get caught along rivers. That can lead to major, sudden floods. We'll be on watch for that too, but they're extremely hard to predict.
Farther north the flood threat is lower because precipitation will fall in the form of snow and a wintry mix.
