The unrelenting cold of recent days remains locked in place Monday night. In fact, it will likely be the coldest night of the past several. Most towns will be in the teens, and even low 20s, below zero. In the Champlain Valley, and in parts of Southern Vermont, lows will be in the single digits below zero. While most records are safe, a few places will be close to records.

Here's a break down of record lows tonight:

Burlington, VT: -24
Lebanon, NH: -22
Massena, NY: -25
Montpelier, VT: -16
Morrisville, VT: -17
Newport, VT: -32
Rutland, VT: -20
St. Johnsbury, VT: -27

The only towns close to those records will be Montpelier and Morrisville. Most other records look safe at this point.

It will remain cold for the rest of the week, but high temperatures will inch up every so slowly. We'll be in the teens Tuesday, teens and 20s Wednesday, 20s on Thursday, and 30s Friday through the weekend. Average for this time of year is 35.
