CONCORD, N.H. - The New Hampshire Department of Transportation has banned heavy vehicle loads from some roads during the spring thaw.

A press release says the warmer weather means sections of roads will be vulnerable to pavement breaking up as frost leaves the underlying road base.

The maximum weight allowed is 30,000 pounds by gross weight, or the cumulative width in inches of all tires contacting the road surface multiplied by 300, whichever is less.

NH Department of Transportation says heating fuel delivery and trucks delivering processed milk are exempt from the seasonal ban.
