CONCORD, N.H. - A New Hampshire Committee on Synthetic Drugs meets for the first time on Wednesday.

A press release says the committee will study how to regulate and control synthetic drugs in the state.

“Synthetic drugs are confronting communities, law enforcement, doctors, and parents with real challenges,” said Senator Molly Kelly (D-Keene), author of legislation for the committee and chair. “We are going to be working very hard in the next few weeks to get a firm handle on what is going on and help the legislature to decide on the best course of action to protect the health of our young people and to help communities deal with this appropriately.”

The committee is scheduled to meet again next Thursday, September 4 to consider legislation and alternative actions that could be used to address the problem.
