PETERBOROUGH, N.H. - Employees of New Hampshire Ball Bearings did not return to work on Tuesday.

An explosion at the factory injured more than a dozen people Monday afternoon.

Hazmat was called to the scene and emergency crews from multiple towns responded.

Officials are still trying to make sure the building is safe.

"So we're focusing on that area on the first floor near the front of the building where the explosion occurred," New Hampshire Deputy Fire Marshal Max Schultz said. "There was enough of a pressure explosion to blow out all the windows across the front of the building. There's also pretty significant damage inside to the walls and parts of the structure."

Fire officials say they're still investigating the exact cause.

The factory makes bearing assemblies for aircraft, medical and high-technology industries.
