CLAREMONT, N.H. - According to the New Hampshire Fire Marshal, one person was killed in a fire on Warren Street in Claremont Sunday night. The fire happened at around 9:30 p.m.

A press release says when fire departments arrived on scene they saw heavy smoke coming from the residence. When firefighters went inside they found a man on the first floor of the residence. The man was transported to Valley Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

An autopsy will be conducted Monday to determine the cause and manner of death.

A press release says the preliminary cause of the fire was caused by careless use and/or disposal of smoking materials.
