New York Man Charged After Police Found Heroin in His Hotel Room

South Burlington, Vt. - A New York man is in custody facing charges of possession of heroin and giving false information to police, according to the South Burlington Police Department.

Police say they received information on Sunday that someone was selling heroin at a local hotel.  Just after 10 p.m., officers arrived at the hotel and spoke with a man who refused to give his real name, according to authorities.

Officials say he was later identified as Qjoseph Williams, 33, of New York City.

During an investigation, police say they found Williams had flushed a large amount of heroin down the toilet and shower.  Williams consented to a search of the hotel room, and officers say they found 440 milligrams of heroin.

Williams was set to appear in court on Monday.
