ALBANY, N.Y. - You can now get your hands on financial information for more than 500 state and local public authorities in New York.

In a press release, State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli says those authorities are in charge of “billions in taxpayer dollars and assets” so the public should be able to see what is being spent.

The information is available on the web; on Open Book New York you can see state payment data as well as debt and property tax cap information. The information dates back to 1999.
