New York State Police: One Person Dead After Canoe Capsized on Lake Placid

Lake Placid, NY - New York State Police says one person drowned in Lake Placid off from Ruisseaumont Way.

Officials say they were called to a report of a canoe that had capsized around 6 a.m. Friday.

Police say one of three people inside was unresponsive and was taken to Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. Saige Borden, 20, of Lake Placid, was pronounced dead just before noon, according to NYSP.

An autopsy is tentatively scheduled for tomorrow.
