PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The Strand Center for the Arts kicks off a brand new set of artwork on display in the gallery.

Starting Friday night, the public can enjoy paintings by Gail Morris, a local artist. This is the first professional show for Morris.

Organizers say they like being able to help artists in the early stages of their career.

"I think its really great to give artists, especially artists who are that begining level who are moving from maybe an amateur hobby position into a more professional arena in the art world, space to have that," Christina Elliott SCA Museum Coordinator said.

The exhibits rotate about once a month in the gallery and are always free to the public.

The gallery is kicking off Morris' Art show with a reception that runs until 7:30 p.m.
