NORTH ELBA, N.Y. - The Essex County Department of Emergency Management has issued a boil water advisory after a water main break in North Elba.

Officials say the water main break is on Lake Flower Ave going south.

The following areas are affected by the boil water advisory:
Lake Flower Ave. from Winona Ave. toward Lake Placid including all side streets: Center St., Merrill St., Santanoni Ave., Colony Ct., Meadow Lane, Crossfield Rd., Duprey St., Edward St, Cortez Ln., Turtle Pond Rd., Will Rogers Rd. and including North Country Community College.

Areas affected are urged to do the following:
  • Bring all water to a boil in a  clean container, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using; use bottle water  certified by NYSDOH; or use water from a public water system approved by NYSDOH.
  • Boiled or bottled water certified by NYSDOH should be used for drinking, making ice,  washing dishes, brushing teeth and food preparation when water service is restored and  until further notice.
  • The Boil Water Order is being issued as a precaution because of the drop in  water line pressures and loss of water due to a water main break. Consumers  will be notified as soon as the Boil Water Order is rescinded.
The Boil Water Order shall only be lifted when repairs are complete and two  consecutive daily samples show no bacteriological contamination.
