New York lawmakers will be in Plattsburgh Friday to discuss heroin abuse.

The public hearing, headed by the New York State Senate Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction, is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Clinton County Government Center.

The task force was formed in March to examine the statewide rise in use of heroin and other opioids and to develop recommendations for treating and preventing addiction.

Senator Betty Little, a member of the bipartisan task force, will be joined by Senator Phil Boyle of Long Island, the task force chairman.

A dozen presenters, including representatives of law enforcement, mental health, social services and emergency medicine, will testify at the hearing.
