PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -  Working to close the digital divide, the Plattsburgh Public Library opens a brand new community technology center.

The center helps those who don't have access to high speed internet and also those who might be new to using computers.

The library was awarded a $5,400 grant and will use the money for 15 new computers and other technology the public can use.

Library Director Anne de la Chapelle says this money greatly helps the community.

"We are trying to just make it a real community center a place where anyone can come to use the machines or use the technology or software," Chapelle said.

While the center opens Tuesday, the library expects to have new furniture in soon and plans to hold an open house around Memorial Day.
