BURLINGTON, Vt. - A New York man was sentenced to 15 months in prison for purchasing an ATV in Enosburg with counterfeit money.

A press release says in October 2013, Francis Hamblin, 31, of Fort Ann, N.Y., purchased a Yamaha ATV from a man in Enosburg with $3,500 in counterfeit U.S. money.

The seller of the ATV became suspicious of the money and contacted the Franklin County Sheriff's Office who confirmed the money was counterfeit.

A press release says Hamblin purchased two other ATVs with counterfeit money, one in Albany, N.Y., and the other in Plattsburgh, N.Y. Hamblin also used a counterfeit $20 at a Burger King in South Burlington.

Hamblin plead guilty to possessing counterfeit money. As part of his sentence, Hamblin also faces two years in prison after serving his prison term.
