ALBANY, N.Y.  - Anyone convicted of making meth in New York could soon spend more time in prison.

The senate passed a bill monday that would strengthen criminal penalties for making and possessing meth making materials.

Under the bill, anyone convicted of operating a meth lab for the second time in five years could see a maximum 20 year sentence. Right now, it's only a max of nine years.

The bill now heads to the Assembly.
