NY State Police Find 53 Bags of Heroin, Other Drugs During Traffic Stop

PERU, N.Y. - Two people were arrested for having drugs during a traffic stop on I-87 in Peru Thursday night. Police initially stopped the vehicle for speeding.

Police say they arrested Jonathan Brown, 20, of Plattsburgh, N.Y., for possessing 53 bags of heroin. The passenger, Amanda Hansen, 21, of Plattsburgh, N.Y., was also arrested for having a small amount of marihuana and 8 milligrams of suboxone. 

 Brown was charged with third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was remanded to the Clinton County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail, or $20,000 bond.

Hansen was charged with seventh degree unlawful possession of marihuana and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released and is scheduled to appear in court next week.
