ALBANY, N.Y. - The New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) announced their endorsements for the 2014 elections.

A press release says candidates were ranked based on voting records, statements, accessibility to NYSUT members, and advocacy on education and labor issues.

"Those who earn endorsements are friends of public education and labor," NYSUT President Karen E. Magee said. "Over the last two years, they earned our support by advocating effectively for our public schools, colleges and health care institutions; listening intently to the concerns and aspirations of our members, and voting consistently the right way."

The union opted to stay out of the New York Governor's race, but did endorse New York Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli and Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.
